About this site

This site is aimed at helping people who want to swap a 2.0 into their Accent have a much easier time with the process. Over the years a lot people have walked away from a Beta Swap because before, there were no ready-made parts available for them. All parts were either modified OE parts or had to be custom made. While the parts from this site are custom made, I have honed the designs from much trial and error to put it politely.

FAQ

What is a Beta?

Beta is the name for a family of Hyundai engines. There are various displacements, 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L, although the 1.6L Beta was never brought into the United States. They are found in Elantras and base model Tiburons.

Ok so what is a Beta Swap?

When we are talking about the Beta Swap, we are generally referring to swapping the 2.0L Beta from the Elantra or Tiburon into the Accent or Scoupe.
The parts available from this site are more specifically targetted to 2001-2005 Accent owners (because that is what I have, and what I know about). Maybe later I will have parts available for other models as well. And for these Accents the best candidate for the swap is the 2.0L BetaII engine from a 2001-2003 Elantra or 2003-2004 Tiburon, preferrably without CVVT.

What's special about this site?

It's the only site around that has stuff for Beta swapping. Hyundais are not like Hondas. We do not have companies making parts for us left and right. Most of everything we do is custom made. This site will take a little of the guess work out of doing a beta swap and make it a matter of just hooking up wires (which I will save for another post).

What makes you think you know anything?

Simple. Trial and error. I did my Beta Swap on Spring Break in March 2006. Since then I have burned up 1 clutch, replaced it, blown 1 transmission, replaced the transmission and clutch with Elantra parts, shortened driverside axle, starter broke and pieces fell in clutch, replaced clutch again, clutch BLEW UP!, replaced clutch again, and most recently I lost an axle and replaced it with an axle from a different car. Along the way I have also redesigned the original custom motor mount to let the engine sit level and axles work right.
